Much as been lost due to historic widespread population loss along the coast of BC. In addition to vast population die off, the oppressive laws imposed by the Indian Act legislated by the Government of Canada forbade the practice of performing our cultural ceremonies, outlawed parents from raising their children, and banned children from speaking their native tongue. Copper Legacy Revitalization Projects will focus on Indigenous language revitalization and projects that reestablish and strengthen cultural practices.
